Gouged cane for Oboe: Oboe-Shop's Choice, hardness tested

Since 2021, we no longer use a mixture of different types of cane for our hardness-tested Oboe Shop's Choice, but only cane of the Olivia variety.

We made this decision deliberately, as Olivia has proven to be extremely reliable and consistent. The cane offers a consistently high quality and fulfils the requirements of oboists in terms of response, sound and stability.

For the hardness testing, we use an analogue hardness tester from Reeds 'n Stuff to ensure precise and reliable measurements. The classification is done in four levels so that oboists can choose exactly the right pieces of cane for their individual needs.
