Octafree

Product number: 001623 Manufacturer:
The Reeds 'n Stuff Octafree removes disruptive water from the two octave vents quickly and quietly.

The Octafree is inserted into the reed inlet at the top of the oboe and allows the water to be sucked out without having to dismantle the oboe. This is ideal in particularly critical situations such as during live concerts or radio recordings, whenever extraneous sounds would be disruptive.

How it works

To remove water from the octave vents, insert the Octafree through the reed inlet into the oboe. The Octafree creates a seal inside the instrument below the octave vents. When you inhale, the airflow draws the moisture from the octave vents upwards through the Octafree and into the filter in the mouthpiece.

Press the relevant octave keys while sucking on the Octafree mouthpiece. The airflow forces the water into the filter. To change the filter, simply unscrew the mouthpiece. We also stock replacement filters.
