Gouged cane for Oboe: Oboe-Shop's Choice, density tested

Contrary to what the name might suggest, Oboe Shop's Choice is not a mix of different types of cane, but we use just one type of cane - Rouché - as the source.

We determine the density using a density tester from Rieger. Although the measuring process is a little time-consuming, it has proved its worth in reducing rejects during the reed making process. This is because the results are now much more accurate and reproducible thanks to the measuring method used for density testing, which is based on physical principles!

The great success of the density-tested Oboe Shop's Choice series is also the reason why we had to virtually discontinue the sale of Rouché cane.
