Feng oboe tube cane

Chinese oboe cane is particularly popular amongst oboists who prefer playing on softer cane. Feng is one of the two major Chinese cane manufacturers.

The cane is grown in the Anhui region in western China. The climate there is similar to that in the south-east of France. Nevertheless, there are significant differences to the cane from southern France. It is much softer, the individual tubes are longer (so that the usable yield per kilo is lower) and the cane's fibres are quite large. The wall's thickness is usually on the thinner side.

The cane has little to no graining and is soft to medium-hard.
