Vic tubed cane for oboe is marked by its sparsely grained and shiny exterior. The interior of the cane is golden yellow and on the harder side. The relatively short tubes result in a high yield of finished and usable cane.

Experience has shown that reeds made from Vic cane need to be played in well but subsequently last a long time.

Vic cane should not be confused with the type "Victoria".
