Universal/Travel mandrel

Conventional mandrels can cause problems when carried in hand luggage on flights. Additionally, when trying out new staples, it is always necessary to buy the matching mandrel too, to prevent any damage to the staple.

Lorenzo Masala's new universal mandrel, also called a travel mandrel, elegantly solves both problems. The universal mandrel is not really a mandrel in the traditional sense, as the staples are simply inserted into the handle.

This means you can carry the mandrel in your hand luggage and use it to securely hold reeds using any type of staple.
