Since 1969, the Kunibert Michel company has been making reed-making machines and accessories for oboe and bassoon – including shaper-tip cutters, profiling and gouging machines as well as dial indicators. It all began with a request from oboist Günther Zorn, for whom Kunibert Michel developed his first profiler. From the very beginning, Georg “Charly” Willig has been responsible for producing the gougers – expertise that still defines the special quality of these machines today. The company has thus always been one of the world’s most important names for high-precision, handcrafted reed-making machines.
After the death of the company’s founder in 2015, the business has been continued by Nicole Willig-Pachaly. With proven craftsmanship and many years of experience, durable machines and tools continue to be made and are in use in professional reed-making workshops around the globe.
Wearing protective equipment
- Always wear cut-resistant gloves and safety goggles when handling the knives to avoid injury.
Transport and storage
- Always pack the knives securely and store them separately from other tools to prevent damage or accidents.
Installing the knives
- Install the blades carefully and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Check that the blades are securely fastened and correctly aligned.
Checking before operation
- Only use sharp, undamaged blades.
- Replace damaged blades immediately.
Disposal of the blades
- Dispose of worn or damaged blades safely, e.g. in a suitable container, to avoid cutting injuries.
Caution:Improper handling of these blades can lead to serious injuries. The machine manufacturer's safety instructions must always be observed!
