The size and curvature of this plaque makes it particularly suitable for working on cor anglais reeds. Cor anglais reeds in particular have a strong curvature at the tip of the reed. If a too small (oboe) plaque is used for scraping, the pressure of the knife may be sufficient to split the reed.
