I am an oboist myself and have toured extensively with many orchestras and chamber orchestras. Therefore I am very familiar with the enormous "reed stress" that oboists have to withstand every day. However, over time, I have managed minimise this problem to such an extent that reeds are no longer a stressful part of any concert. Just give it a go!
