The French manufacturer Marigaux has for decades been one of the world's most highly regarded makers of oboes, oboes d'amore and cors anglais. The company was founded on 12 January 1935 by the Swiss businessman Charles Strasser, the instrument maker Jules Marigaux – trained at Buffet-Crampon – and their partner Lemaire under the name Strasser Marigaux & Lemaire. While the Paris workshop initially produced saxophones and flutes, oboes and clarinets were built from the outset in La Couture-Boussey in Normandy – the small village in the Eure département that is regarded as the cradle of French woodwind instrument making.

In the 1980s, Marigaux focused entirely on the manufacture of oboe instruments. This consistent specialisation laid the foundation for the brand's worldwide reputation today: a warm, projecting sound, precise key mechanics and craftsmanship of the highest standard. Models such as the Marigaux 901 and the Marigaux M2 are played by leading orchestral musicians and soloists in more than 60 countries.

At Oboe-Shop, Marigaux has been a fixed part of the instrument range since 2025. In addition, Oboe-Shop has been responsible since 2018 – in close collaboration with the manufacturer's top artists – for the Marigaux accessories series, reflecting a particularly close connection to the Parisian workshop.
