The choice of shape for bass oboe reeds is quickly made because we only use the so-called "FBO"-shaper from Reeds 'n Stuff.
However, in terms of diameter and gouging thickness, you can choose from a variety of options, just as with simply gouged cane for bass oboe.

Depending on your chosen diameter we either use our trusted Rouché baroque oboe tubed cane or Rouché cor anglais tubed cane.

Throughout the years this has proven to be suitable for the majority of oboists.

Like all our cane, the bass oboe cane is exclusively gouged by hand on Kunibert Michel gougers.
