Bocal: Lorée (silver plated)

For many, cors anglais bocals from Lorée set the standard - not only when played on Lorée instruments, but often also on instruments from other manufacturers.

This is because Lorée bocals fit well on most instruments - often even better than the bocals that are delivered with the manufacturer's instrument.

Lorée bocals are available in two versions with different bores: the Standard Model and the Model "H". The former is significantly more popular than the newer Model "H".

When considering which staples to match with a Lorée bocal, the choice is fairly flexible. Both the Chiarugi 2 and 2+ as well as the Guercio E staples, which were developed specifically for Lorée bocals, are great choices.

Influence on Basic Pitch

A bocal with the length numbered 2 generally tunes lower than a number 0 or 1. The choice of crook is strongly dependant on your instrument and the pitch you wish to tune to.

While low tuning instruments and tuning to 443Hz means you will most likely play on a number 0 or 1 crook, cors anglais with a generally higher pitch or that are played in countries where one tunes to 440Hz should be played with a number 2 or 3 bocal.
