Blade for Michel gouger, resharping service

Product number: MICHEL-INNENH-MESSER-SCHLIFF Manufacturer:
The blades for the Kunibert Michel gouging machine are extremely durable. One can realistically gouge 10,000 pieces of cane with the same blade. However, to achieve this, it is important that the blade is repositioned slightly forward at the decisive moment!

After gouging about 400 pieces of cane, you will notice that the discarded chip starts to get a little thin, about 5/100 mm. This is the moment when the blade in the gouging machine needs to be pushed forward slightly. After this, the discarded cane chip will measure the usual 7/100mm. If you miss this crucial moment and start to apply a lot of pressure to the gouger, both the blade and the brass in front of and behind the blade will start to wear. If, on the other hand, you move the blade forward at the right moment, you will extend the life of the blade even further, and it will only be after many years of intensive use that you will need to use the sharpening service for Michel gouging machines.

Incidentally, we do not sharpen the blades ourselves; all blades are sharpened by Kunibert Michel. To access the sharpening service, buy this product and send us your old blade. You will then immediately receive another refurbished one in exchange.
