Baroque oboe staple: AB 55

Product number: 001722 Manufacturer:
Antoine Torunczyk and Alfredo Bernardini developed this staple together. Let's listen to their story of this staple:
For years people have been playing a combination of bocal and modern english horn (or sometimes oboe d'amore) staple, which was of course very convenient: the bocal came with the oboe, and one could use widely available staples.

This non historical but convenient system is still in use though it has some disadvantages : less dynamic range, less good fork fingerings, and in general slightly more resistantance.

What we wanted to achieve, also with feedback from other estimated colleagues, is to find a staple which would be kind of universal enough to fit different oboes, and different players. We probably managed if judged from the quantity of people who adopted it.

An other interesting feature is that the staples do not have a 'simple' bore but are getting a bit more volume towards the center, which has the effect of slightly rising the very top register (high c-d), without affecting some dangerous notes of the first harmonic (high g-a).
