Kunibert Michel oboe micrometers have for many years been the reference point in the oboe world for measuring reeds and cane.

The dials have a very stable tongue that does not move or bend when the reed is placed in position. The micrometer dial comes in a shock-proof casing which enables it to still measure accurately, even after many small knocks and falls on your reed making table.

Blank reeds are arched the further you go towards the staple due to the change in diameter of shaped cane. Whilst most standard dials have a flat tongue, the Kunibert Michel uses a curved design to follow the reeds contours and to make sure that the reed stays flat and secure all along the tongue. This greatly increases measuring accuracy and helps prevent reeds splitting.

The practically designed strip markings along the tongue allow for precise measurement comparisons from reed to reed. The measuring tip has a diameter of 0.5mm which gives a more accurate reading than ball point tips.

The dial micrometer is available with a lever on either the left or right hand side.
